Meet Ms. Sauer!
Hi everyone! My name is Brooke Sauer and I will be your science teacher at Durham School of the Arts. Thank you for visiting my website!
In my class, students will be engaged in many different activities, including lively discussions, creative projects, and hands-on labs and experiments. I hope you will find it challenging, stimulating and lots of fun!
A little bit about me: I graduated from UNC-Chapel Hill in December 2011 with a B.A. in Biology. I was also a part of the UNC Baccalaureate in Education and Science Teaching (BEST) program, in which I took courses in the School of Education so that I could graduate with both my degree in my content area and with my North Carolina Secondary Science Teaching License.
I also serve as High School Science Department Chairperson, DSA's Advanced Academics Lead Teacher, a 2019 NIEHS STaRS Institute Participant, a National Science Foundation RET Fellow (summers 2016 & 2017) at Duke University, and a 2015-2016 Kenan Fellow, and a 2014 participant in the Duke STAR Program (formerly the NCC Summer Research Experience Program). If you have any questions, please do not hesitate to contact me!

Outside of academia, you're most likely to find me at the gym, cooking, reading, or hiking along the Eno River!
