Policies Explained
Homework
Homework will typically be graded on a scale of 1-10. A student will receive a 10 on his/her homework if all questions are answered in complete sentences, all demographic information is complete (name, date, and class period), and if the assignment is turned in on time. Often, I will grade for completion (and provide verbal feedback/suggestions), but occasionally I will collect homework and grade it for accuracy.
Quizzes
Quizzes will rarely be unannounced, as I am not a fan of "pop" quizzes. Unlike tests, which will almost always be in a multiple-choice format, my quizzes are often short-answer questions. This may be in the form of fill-in-the-blank, labeling a diagram, short essay questions, etc. This not only allows me to give students partial credit for answers, but also to provide students with a lot of feedback and suggestions for improvement BEFORE a larger test.
